Disadvantages Of Hd Dvd Camcorder

image If you do not know what a camcorder is, it is a device that enables you to record video into a disk without any third party device. Having done with the recording, all you need to do is to connect the disk onto your computer or your DVD player and enjoy the taken videos. It is one of the latest inventions that impressed a lot of people. I used to be amazed by this device as well but not anymore after owning one and reading reviews. I will tell you why HD DVD camcorder is not good enough to be a good invention.

First of all, the price of a HD DVD camcorder is very expensive. If you compare with a MiniDV, the price of DVD camcorder is far more expensive. Why would you want to spend on a product which is more expensive when you can get a product that provides a similar quality at a cheaper price? In fact, I still think that the performance of MiniDV is still much better than this camcorder. The details will be further explained below.

The DVD which is used in the DVD camcorder is compressed in the MPEG2 format. This format is a below average quality format while MiniDV uses a lossless compression method. By having this compression, DVD camcorder’s picture quality is no match for the MiniDV. By right, the quality is good when the image is flashed through the lens but during compression to DVD format, the quality degrades.

Another disadvantage of the DVD camcorder is it uses heavy compression. Why is it not good to use heavy compression? It is simply because heavy compression causes bad quality video. It is a very fresh problem with this camcorder and there is yet to be a solution for this. Besides that, the DVD technology which is still not perfect might not bring the desired output quality through the camcorder.
